We are happy to announce the first [waiting for a cup of tea.] exhibition will launch on 12 June with a new site specific work by Rumiko Hagiwara. Her art works suggest us a different way of looking at our daily events and spaces. She was a residence artist at Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in 2008-09. She currently participating a residence programme of DCR guest studio in Den Haag and developing  her new project together with the project space Hier by Heden in Den Haag. Her recent exhibitions include: [almost nothing] at DUPLEX/10m2 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina (2010); [Ineditos 2009] at La Casa Encendida Art Centre in Madrid, Spain (2009); [BELICHT] at Galerie de Expeditie in Amsterdam (2008).

[waiting for a cup of tea.] is seasonal out-door contemporary art exhibitions using the authentic Japanese garden of the Japanese culture center Shofukan which is located in the south of Rotterdam. The exhibitions will invite four emerging and mid-career Japanese artists who engage with site-specific practice and installation art. All artists are currently living and working in the Netherlands or one of the neighboring countries. The exhibitions raise issue of identity, notion of origin and meaning of location. The first exhibition will launch out on June 2010.
The exhibitions are organised by studio from the floor and co-organised by Shofukan Foundation.
