[waiting for a cup of tea.] was a serie of seasonal out-door contemporary art exhibitions in the authentic Japanese garden of the Japanese culture center Shofukan, which is located in the south of Rotterdam. The exhibitions invited four emerging and mid-career Japanese artists who engage with site-specific practice and installation art. All artists are currently living and working in the Netherlands or one of the neighboring countries. The theme of the project raises the issue of identity as well as transitions of how their cultural backgrounds and their experiences of living in Europe influence their art practices.
The exhibitions were organised by studio from the floor and co-organised by Shofukan Foundation.
